Like you PL I love Virat Kohli with all the love a cricket tragic can give. Why didn't Shakespeare write a play about him? In fact if he did Virat could have played every role!

The master of all masters and his unbridled passion for test cricket should be taken to heart by the doubters. Watch out for that car on the wrong side of the road!!

I can’t comment about driving in Portugal, but I driven a little in France, Germany & Greece & a lot in Italy.

I love it! Yes they drive faster than Aus & with less apparent regard for pedestrians or each other, but in reality, there is far less conflict. They accept others will butt in, they actually concentrate on what they’re doing & they get lots more vehicles into the road space available (watch how good they are at roundabouts - way better than Aussie drivers generally).

On autobahns/autostradas everyone stays out of the fast lanes

& I’ve never seen any bad road rage. A raised finger or eyebrow - & of course, the horn - is about it.

I’ve driven the mountain roads and highways in Greece. Didn’t worry me at all. Here was different.

Driving in Europe is challenging but also quite exhilarating.

I understand your experience very well Pete. My wife hated the experience 100%. We are unlikely to ever drive overseas together ever again.

The quote from Virat on the importance and relevance of Test Cricket is just magnificent and I hope it is repeated and published on a regular basis and especially when some new shiny T20 event is created which creates further congestion and scheduling issues that places (unnecessary) pressure of red ball cricket.

Cannot wait for the WTC starting next week.

Wow what a brilliant post game speech by the king. Reminded me of the famous quote by Football Manager Bobby Robson about his hometown club Newcastle Utd....

What is a club in any case? Not the buildings or the directors or the people who are paid to represent it. It’s not the television contracts, get-out clauses, marketing departments or executive boxes. It’s the noise, the passion, the feeling of belonging, the pride in your city. It’s a small boy clambering up stadium steps for the very first time, gripping his father’s hand, gawping at that hallowed stretch of turf beneath him and, without being able to do a thing about it, falling in love.

So heartening to read and this is why I love Cricket Et Al, bringing us this very positive news!

Test cricket being of more importance than a domestic T20 comp? Someone needs to tell cricket's governing bodies.

Virat's passion for test cricket is a great thing no doubt, the horse may have bolted though. The odds of making money in the IPL would seem a better bet than making the Indian test team if you were a young Indian cricketer.

Driving in Portugal usually warrants wearing Brown Corduroy trousers, particularly the grade 2 roads which play more like grade 4 roads, Pete. Their road toll is 3 times ours; population under half ours. It's actually a serious statistic which should be considered by travellers. Here's hoping you will be our eyes and ears next week @ Lords!

I’m reassured, to a degree, to hear that. I’ve driven in many places, but here is particularly harrowing. It wasn’t a long drive, but I was exhausted by the end of it. The sigh of relief when I turned off the engine at our destination was unusual. I thought I was losing my nerve. Thanks!
