Everything needs a name.
For years, the term Bazball has been derided as often as it has been used. Brendon McCullum himself, hates it. A moniker given to him which he neither likes nor agrees with. To him, it is an oversimplification of his life’s work and ethos.
“I hate tiki-taka,” said one football coach back in 2012. “Don’t believe what people say. Barcelona didn’t do tiki-taka. It’s completely made-up. Don’t believe a word of it.”
That quote belongs to Pep Guardiola. The inventor of tiki-taka, rebelling against the notion of his own creation. McCullum isn’t alone when it comes to railing against a term bestowed upon him
