England gag Ashes team in continuing fallout from 4-1 loss

PL reports that the ECB had gagged its Test players from speaking to media but backflipped when exposed

The rolling disaster that was England’s Ashes tour this summer continues with a clumsy attempt by the England & Wales Cricket Board to gag players involved in the 4-1 series loss to Australia over the summer.

Reporter Chris Stocks broke the story in the iPaper having at first been granted an interview with Shoaib Bashir ahead of his stint with county side Derbyshire, only to have it cancelled at the last moment.

Despite Bashir being left out of all five Tests in the summer, the spinner, it turned out, had been gagged.

On further inquiry Stocks learned that the ECB had sent a memo to all counties on Thursday advising them that all prearranged interviews with any players who were in Australia over the summer were to be cancelled.
