I cancelled my membership after the Summer (I’m SORRY… footy season was starting… I was WRONG) but renewed when Peter was dropped by Sky. Haven’t regretted it for a moment. Being sympathetic to players staging their retirements is fine if they are playing well. If Marnus had said he’s retiring after The Ashes does he keep his spot? It’s ridiculous. Uzzie has looked all at sea against decent pace for a while now.
I’m afraid I really don’t get these staged retirement send offs. Isn’t it the selectors’ job to pick the best team/squad to win the match/series? Or is it to pick the team that will ensure the most media coverage?
