Pete and Gid wouldn’t know a trade secret if they fell over it, so when they appeared at the Phillip Island Festival of Stories recently to discuss the topic ‘From Murdoch to the New Media’, they wondered if they would have anything to say. Forty-five minutes later, they were still wondering, but for what it’s worth here’s what happened in between. This is such an interesting discussion and it was fascinating to learn how Cricket Et Al evolved. I've been a subsciber for about a year and think it's brilliant. In particular, Pete's reports from Sri Lanka and the West Indies were outstanding, giving a real insight into cricket there. I also love the non-cricket items, so keep up the good work!
I’ve only just had a chance to listen to this and have to say I’m surprised no one has commented yet. This has been one of the more illuminating non-cricket conversations I’ve heard, and the insights into writing for one of Australia’s major dailies was fascinating. There are no dedicated cricket writers worth reading in the papers now, especially since Greg Baum retired. I have (mostly) agreed with P&G’s views on all things cricket, but I do enjoy it when you veer off the 22 yards and talk about other stuff as well. I subscribe to substack for quality writing, and it doesn’t have to be just about cricket. Keep it up.
