Hey guys, any chance of talking over each other little less? I understand these pods are conversational in style but I would like to hear the points you are both making. Love everything Et Al. Cheers!
Saw Crime and the City Solution in Manchester last year. A slimmed down acoustic version. Very small venue. Only 28 people there. Great show. I think the Australian tour is a full band. Well worth seeing.
Crime and the City Solution at the Lansdowne Hotel on Friday night was great. During the warm up act the bloke beside me was checking cricket scores I noticed! The warm up act was the Nick Cave sounding Jack Ladder (who is well worth a listen if you are unfamiliar with him).
Gid/Pete…I have a question about the DRS system used in Big Bash this season. Why do some Big Bash games use Ultraedge technology but other BB games this season sometimes use Snicko?
If Ultraedge is more expensive than Snicko, why is the lead broadcaster Fox choosing to mainly use Ultraedge in Big Bash with so many games but didn’t during the Ashes.
“Channel 7, which broadcasts the BBL as part of Cricket Australia’s rights deal with Seven Network and Foxtel, has a contract with Hawk-Eye Innovations (the company behind UltraEdge). That means UltraEdge is already secured for BBL matches and is part of the production package they use. “ Hope this helps, and that it’s true!
Ahh thanks Jeremy. That makes sense as I thought it was Fox as lead broadcaster for BBL. But I thought I saw a few BBL games where Snicko was used not Ultraedge. It’s possible I was mistaken.
What this does show is that CH7 was willing to pay more for the better DRS system than Fox
Maybe Snicko was still used for the Foxtel exclusive games? Either way, this Summer exposed the insanity of technology being decided on cost by the broadcaster rather than its efficiency by CA.
In a rare moment of common sense England have requested that there be no pink ball test in the next Australian Ashes series (2029-30 I presume)
Great to have the music/book digressions back. Will we get some Top Tens soon?
