Another challenge making the scg a day night test is the fact that it's the mcgrath pink test and the players will have an even harder time seeing the ball 😂
The cricket calendar is such a mind-boggling confusing jumble now, there’s no way of pleasing everyone. Even though I’m not a football fan (anymore) they are in the envious position of just being strictly a domestic competition (AFL and NRL) without having to worry about international interference or multiple formats, or the colour of the balls, or whether it rains or not, or whether it’s a day game or a night game. Cricket is unfortunately “up against it” a lot of the time.
I know Pete put Gideon on the spot, but why is the decision about whether to sell the BBL all about the books? Yes that is an important part, but shouldn't it also be about how much, if any, control CA has - e.g. over the summer schedule, or makeup of the teams i.e. no restrictions on players, how many Aussies need to be on each team etc.
If they have to have pink ball Tests because people are at work/school during the day, why don't they have the BBL on during November or February (lead up to IPL) and the Tests on in December/January when people are on holidays??
Then they are not in competition with SA20 and can get the best of both worlds.
I do like the Sallie adverts, by the way. (In response to someone that said they didn't).
Ben Duckett in a surprise but welcome move turns his back on the IPL and stands up for Test and County cricket https://www.theguardian.com/sport/2026/mar/24/ben-duckett-pulls-out-off-ipl-deal-to-save-england-test-cricket-spot
