New Pod Ep: Unnatural Selection
An Ashes squad special
Peter and Gideon react to the selection of Australia’s fifteen-man squad for the First Test. Has Weatherald won the bat off? Was there a bowl off too? Green or Webster? Or both?! Also: is George Bailey too agreeable to make the tough calls? Big questions, plus our trademark rambling answers, in another ramshackle episode.
Plus: come along and see us harnessed to The Grade Cricketer machine, in Sydney next Wednesday, in Melbourne next Thursday. We’ll be discussing, for want of a better word, their new book, Alphas, Champions and Chop Kings.

Hi guys. A fully-subscribed reader/watcher. Enjoy all your stuff. The latest podcast on the bizarre 15 man-Ozzie Test selection decision was informative. I'm older, right? Would be keen to hear a little more from you both on issues about distant events, including selector-player closeness. My mate Pat Rodgers (known to GH ) and I (known to GH) are well underway with a tour book of the 1923-24 NSW visit to New Zealand. It'll be a best-seller. Of the three selectors, two chose themselves (Charlie Macartney and Warren Bardsley) with the latter's younger brother Mick also being roped in. Nothing alarming about this at the time. None of these tourists would have stomached a coach. Cricket changes, but in odd ways, and without any genuine sense of history. *ENDS". Love that journalistic flourish PL. Peter Lloyd
