Six players cut from Cricket Australia contract list, including one retirement
PL reveals the 21 players contracted for 2026-27
Cricket Australia announced today the 21 players on the contract list for 2026-27.
Those who were on last year and are not this year are: Usman Khawaja (retired), Sam Konstas (rebuilding), Glenn Maxwell (retreating), as well as Lance Morris, Jhye Richardson and Matt Short who have come up short in one way or another over the past 12 months.
Brendan Doggett, who made his Test debut in the summer, has made the grade.
Jake Weatherald, who was not on the original 2025-26 list but earned an upgrade, has also been offered a full contract.
Michael Neser and Todd Murphy return to full contracts, the former in acknowledgment of the workload expected on a bowling group that has grown long in the tooth, the second because five of the Tests adding to that workload are against India, in India. Matthew Kuhnemann remains on the list, and Nathan Lyon is working back toward full fitness.
