Mitchell Starc, playing his 100th Test, took a wicket with his first delivery and three in his first over. Only one player in history had done that before this day.
His first five wickets were taken in 15 deliveries.
If speed is your measure, that can be considered the greatest opening spell in the history of Test cricket.
If endurance and performance are your measure, it is pretty good too. He notched up his 400th Test wicket in the middle of the mayhem. His current bowling average (27.02) is the lowest it has been in his career. Fact is, he’s getting better with age. His 6-9 from 45 deliveries are his best figures by a long stretch.
