He smacked the first through point and continued as if he had never been injured and wasn’t wearing a splint beneath the batting gloves.
After a short period, Smith moved onto the centre wicket and faced the quicks.
He will still have to get medical clearance to play, but barring the digit being slammed in a dunny door, it seems very likely that he is set to play the second Test.
