Early this afternoon, before the gates had been opened, a small van made its way behind the members stands and reversed up to the Australian dressing room. After a few attempts the rear door was opened and case after case of beer was unloaded onto a trolley and transferred to the cool room.
A small box, possibly containing a few bottles of wine, maybe even a champagne, was the last item removed from the van which made its way from the ground and the members who had formed into two orderly lines – one making its way up the Monetfiore Hill and the other back around toward the Moreton Bay Figs behind the hill end – started to pour into the ground.
