These days it is Sydney that has the reputation as the rainy Test, but that title used to be owned by Brisbane. From the very first, the city developed a record of matches in which rain was almost a third competitor.

Queensland weather cost Donald Bradman his first Test as captain, then a decade later delivered him his, and Australia’s, biggest Ashes win. It also did a job on India on their first visit seventy-seven years ago. Today it reemerged to frustrate them anew.
