Hostilities have been suspended, allowing us time to pay respects to the fallen.

Virat Kohli has retired from Test cricket.

Last week’s rumours that he was keen to leave got trampled in off-again-on-again dramas of the IPL, and the announcement comes soon after the news that the man who replaced him as captain, Rohit Sharma, has made the same call.

Virat let his 271 million closest friends on Insta know of his decision on Monday afternoon via this post:

The Instagram post was accompanied by Frank Sinatra singing My Way, which had it been any other player, may have seemed a little bombastic, but Kohli did do it his way and his exit does deserve such grandiose fanfare.

Cricket without Kohli is going to take some getting used to.
