Will Pucovski reveals ongoing battles as he retires from cricket at 27
“I wanted to hold on to the dream as long as I could, but the flip side to that is you want to feel better and live your life normally. I just don't want to risk doing any more damage to my brain than I've already done."
Will Pucovski has finally – sadly – accepted that he can no longer play cricket, a decision he describes as “humongously disappointing”.
It was moving and alarming to hear him speak with Gerard Whateley on Tuesday morning, only a few days before the 27-year-old walks down the aisle and shares his marriage vows with fiance, Emma Stonier. Those vows, he hinted, will include gratitude to the young woman who has stayed by his side through what can have only been a difficult period in the cricketer’s life.
