Re Jacks and his regular drag-downs; not too surprising when you learn (from Andy Zaltsmann on TMS, so fairly reliable I think) that in the last 3 years he has bowled only just over 250 overs in first class cricket. Surely Root would be a better option for those overs than Jacks?
“..because we are obsessed by numbers”… might you also be obsessed by syllables? Josh Tongue coming into the side takes the tally of Poms with one-syllable surnames to eight. Maybe an Ashes record. What about the most singles by a single-surname batter? Twos by a two-syllable batter??
