"cricket feels like life in a way other sports, I think, do not, quite." Absolutely Gideon - as I say to my wife when she moans about yet another day watching Text cricket - "it's life in miniature, how can you not love it?"

Don't expose her to Harold Pinter's line that cricket is the best thing God ever invented including sex although sex is also quite good.

County Cricket Matters, the no-frills, inexpensive, quarterly magazine that Annie launched and edits, is highly recommended. CCM is a strong advocate of country cricket, produced for the love of the game, by genuine supporters.

I’ve had a number of pleasant lunch & tea break chats with fellow spectators at cricket about the book I’ve been reading -couldn’t imagine doing that at footy or tennis

Have ordered Annies book - surely the faults you pointed out should have been addressed by her editor ? - also of interest because I’ve spent happy holidays in Exeter lovely part of the world
